OKOYE DELIGHTED AS UDINESE HOLD COMO TO SERIE A DRAW

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed satisfaction after helping Udinese secure a 1-1 draw against Como in their opening Serie A match of the season.

Okoye delivered an impressive performance, making five crucial saves as Udinese earned a point at home. The hosts took the lead in the first half through Hassane Kamara, who finished after running onto a pass from Jürgen Ekkelenkamp.

Como equalised after the break when Tasos Douvikas followed up after Okoye had saved Trevoh Chalobah’s header. The Nigerian goalkeeper later made another important save to prevent Douvikas from completing Como’s comeback.

Reflecting on the result, Okoye praised his teammates and the home supporters, saying the team had hoped to win but was satisfied with the point. He also expressed happiness at contributing to the result with his saves.

Udinese will next travel to face Monza, with Okoye expected to continue in goal as he looks to maintain his strong start to the campaign.
