OK MOVEMENT REJECTS NDC CONTROL OVER ITS STRUCTURES

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, popularly known as the OK Movement, has rejected calls for its structures to operate under the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, said the organisation would retain its independent leadership and structures despite supporting the NDC’s presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Ughulu was responding to comments by NDC National Leader, Seriake Dickson, who said political support groups should complement political parties rather than operate as parallel structures.

The disagreement followed the OK Movement’s announcement of a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to mobilise support for Obi and Kwankwaso. The NDC had earlier dissociated itself from the council, saying it was not authorised by the party.

However, Ughulu maintained that the OK Movement was an independent political organisation with structures at national, state, local government and ward levels.

He said cooperation with the NDC did not mean the movement had surrendered its organisational identity or internal administration.

Ughulu added that the movement would continue to mobilise support for Obi and Kwankwaso while maintaining control of its structures.

The development has created disagreement between the movement and the NDC over the roles and boundaries of support organisations ahead of the 2027 elections.
