OIL, INTEREST RATES AND NAIRA TO SHAPE MARKET OUTLOOK
Oil prices, monetary policy and movements in the naira are expected to remain key factors influencing Nigeria’s financial markets as the third-quarter corporate earnings season begins.
Analysts at Coronation Asset Management said global geopolitical developments and changing monetary policy signals would continue to shape market activity across major asset classes.
On the Nigerian Exchange, investors are expected to focus more closely on individual companies and their third-quarter financial results rather than broad market movements.
The analysts said companies with stronger earnings prospects could attract greater investor attention as businesses continue to face elevated operating costs.
In the oil market, Brent crude prices have risen above $100 per barrel amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and risks affecting shipping routes.
Higher crude prices could support Nigeria’s government revenue and foreign exchange reserves, although elevated global energy costs could also add pressure to domestic transportation and inflation.
The naira has shown signs of relative stability, supported by stronger external reserves and improved foreign exchange market conditions.
Coronation expects the naira to remain broadly stable in the near term, while short-term government securities yields could gradually ease as liquidity remains strong and investors respond to recent monetary policy changes.
The analysts said developments in oil prices, exchange rates and interest rates would remain important considerations for investors in the coming period.
