OGUN TRAINS 311 SMALLHOLDER FARMERS IN DIGITAL AGRICULTURE
No fewer than 311 smallholder farmers in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have received training on the use of digital tools to improve agricultural production and strengthen their access to information and markets. The initiative is aimed at helping farmers adopt technology in their daily farming activities and improve the efficiency of their operations.
The training focused on equipping the participants with practical knowledge of digital tools that can support different aspects of farming. The beneficiaries were introduced to technology that can help them access agricultural information, monitor farming activities, connect with relevant stakeholders and make better-informed decisions throughout the production process.
The programme also highlighted the growing importance of digital technology in modern agriculture, particularly for smallholder farmers who often face challenges accessing timely information and markets. By improving their digital skills, the farmers are expected to have better opportunities to access useful agricultural resources and strengthen the way they manage their businesses.
The training forms part of broader efforts to encourage the adoption of technology within Nigeria’s agricultural sector. Stakeholders have increasingly identified digital platforms and extension services as important tools for improving farmers’ productivity, access to markets and ability to respond to changing conditions in the agricultural value chain.
The participation of the 311 farmers is expected to strengthen digital adoption among smallholder producers in Ado-Odo/Ota and contribute to more efficient farming practices. The initiative also reflects the growing focus on combining agriculture with digital solutions as Nigeria seeks to improve food production, support farmers and strengthen the overall agricultural economy.
