OGUN STATE POLICE INTERCEPT ROBBERS, STRENGTHEN SECURITY ACROSS FLASHPOINTS
The Ogun State Police Command announced that its operatives successfully thwarted a robbery attempt in Sagamu on Wednesday, recovering the vehicle used by the suspects. The intervention was carried out swiftly by officers from the Sakura Division, Sagamu.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated that at about 1:45 a.m., a distress call was received via the CDC Chairman of Okearedi, Araromi, along the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway. The call reported that five armed individuals were attempting to forcibly enter a residence in the community.
Odutola explained: “The Sakura Division immediately coordinated a smart response. On sighting the patrol team, the hoodlums fled in different directions, prompting a pursuit by the police. The suspects’ operational vehicle — a black Lexus GS 350 with registration number OGUN TTD 452 TT — was recovered at the entrance of the community. A search of the vehicle revealed fireworks suspected to be intended for use as distractions during the robbery attempt.”
Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the officers for their prompt action and professionalism. He added that the command has strengthened operational strategies by deploying personnel to identified flashpoints across the state as part of end-of-year security measures.
While assuring residents of sustained police visibility and proactive responses, Ogunlowo urged the public to remain vigilant, particularly when entering their homes or estates at night. He also advised that illuminating dark or isolated areas can help deter criminals who exploit such spaces.
The police command encouraged residents to follow its official social media channels for verified updates and real-time security information.
