OGUN STATE FIRST LADY BACKS FREE SURGERIES, URGES SUPPORT FOR POOR
Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the First Lady of Ogun State, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting underprivileged residents by launching a free surgical outreach at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu. The initiative, in collaboration with a U.S.-based medical team, offers free surgeries for ailments such as hernia, fibroids, goitre, and cataracts.
Emphasizing the role of wealth in social responsibility, Mrs. Abiodun urged affluent individuals to assist the less fortunate, stressing the importance of modeling generosity to children. So far, 51 surgeries have been completed, with over 170 patients still awaiting treatment.
Dr. Musbau Kasumu, leader of the visiting medical team, highlighted their donation of a multimillion-naira endoscope machine to OOUTH. The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, praised the donation, calling it crucial for early cancer diagnosis and improved healthcare access in Ogun State.
