OGUN STARTS N6BN SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN
The Ogun State Government has begun disbursing N6bn to 3,855 women’s groups under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up.
The fund is being provided through a partnership involving the Ogun State Government, Federal Government and World Bank.
The programme targets women affinity groups across four local government areas in the state and is designed to support women-led businesses and strengthen household livelihoods.
The intervention is also expected to increase women’s participation in economic activities by providing financial support to organised groups.
The programme forms part of broader efforts to improve economic opportunities for women and strengthen community-based businesses.
Beneficiary groups are expected to use the funds to expand their economic activities and improve their capacity to generate income.
The Ogun initiative is being implemented as part of the wider Nigeria for Women Programme, which focuses on improving women’s economic empowerment and access to financial opportunities.
The state government said the fund would support women and contribute to stronger household incomes across participating communities.
The disbursement comes as governments and development partners continue to introduce programmes aimed at supporting women-owned businesses and improving access to economic resources.
A total of 3,855 women groups are covered by the latest Ogun intervention.
