The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into allegations of farmland destruction, criminal intimidation and suspected land grabbing in Ajogbo Akia community in the state.

The investigation followed concerns raised by traditional leaders and residents of the community over alleged activities of individuals suspected of attempting to take control of farmland belonging to members of the community.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, directed that an immediate and comprehensive investigation be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations.

According to the police, the investigation will seek to determine what actually occurred, identify individuals who may have been involved in any criminal activities and ensure that anyone found culpable is made to face the law.

The development comes amid concerns over the alleged destruction of farmland and activities said to be connected with land grabbing in the community. Residents and traditional authorities had reportedly raised the matter, prompting the police command to intervene.

The command is expected to gather information from the affected residents, community leaders and other parties connected to the dispute as part of efforts to establish the facts.

The police investigation is also expected to determine whether any criminal offences were committed in connection with the alleged destruction of farmland and intimidation of residents.

The Ogun State Police Command assured that the matter would be handled in accordance with the law, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and protecting residents from criminal activities.

The investigation is ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings of the police.
