The Ogun State Police Command has helped a woman who was unable to settle a N300,000 debt incurred from surgery, securing a waiver that allowed her to move forward without the financial burden. The intervention was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, who highlighted the case as an example of police involvement in supporting members of the public beyond conventional security duties.

According to the police commissioner, the woman had faced difficulty after undergoing surgery and was unable to pay the outstanding hospital bill. Her situation came to the attention of the police, who intervened and engaged the relevant parties to find a solution to the financial problem.

Following the intervention, the N300,000 surgery debt was waived, relieving the woman of the obligation to make the payment. The development was presented as part of efforts by the Ogun State Police Command to respond to humanitarian concerns and assist vulnerable residents who may require support in difficult circumstances.

Ogunlowo said the police should not only be seen through the lens of crime prevention and law enforcement but should also maintain a strong relationship with members of the communities they serve. He stressed the importance of compassion, public service and building trust between security agencies and residents.

The intervention has also drawn attention to the wider challenges faced by Nigerians who struggle to meet medical expenses, particularly when unexpected health emergencies result in significant debts. The Ogun Police Command said it would continue to support initiatives that strengthen its relationship with residents while carrying out its primary responsibility of maintaining law and order.
