OGUN GOVT STEPS IN AFTER YOUNG MUM DELIVERS TRIPLETS, FATHER FLEES HOSPITAL
The Ogun State Government has come to the aid of a 19-year-old mother, Temilola Adediran, who was abandoned by the father of her newborn triplets shortly after she gave birth at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta.
Temilola, who was preparing for her SSCE exams before getting pregnant, delivered the triplets naturally — without surgery. But rather than celebrate the new arrivals, the young mother was left heartbroken when the children’s father fled the hospital after learning she had given birth.
Responding to the story, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, led a team from the ministry to the hospital to show support and settle the mother’s medical bills. Adeleye also gave cash gifts to Temilola and extended kindness to other mothers in the maternity ward.
Speaking during the visit, Adeleye said the action was a direct instruction from Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is passionate about the welfare of children and vulnerable families in the state.
“We are here today because the governor cares deeply for every child in Ogun State, no matter their background. His concern led us here to support this young mother who found herself in a tough situation,” she said.
The commissioner described Temilola’s safe delivery of triplets as a miracle and praised the medical team for their professionalism and care.
She also assured the young mother that the state government’s support would go beyond paying hospital bills. She promised that the Ministry of Women Affairs would provide long-term help through empowerment programs to help her rebuild her life and secure a stable future for her children.
This heartwarming intervention by the Ogun State Government highlights the power of responsive governance and the importance of community support for young, vulnerable mothers.
