The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun has reported 11 deaths from 19 road traffic crashes recorded across the state in May.

According to the agency, the incidents also left several people injured, with multiple crashes attributed to speeding, wrongful overtaking, and poor road user behaviour.

Officials said the figures highlight the continued need for strict adherence to traffic regulations and improved road safety awareness among motorists.

The FRSC noted that enforcement operations and public sensitisation campaigns have been intensified to reduce avoidable road accidents in the state.

Authorities also called on commercial drivers and private vehicle owners to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and compliance with safety standards before embarking on trips.

In Nigeria, road crashes remain a major public safety concern, with agencies repeatedly warning against reckless driving and non-compliance with traffic laws.

The corps reaffirmed its commitment to reducing road fatalities through enforcement, education, and emergency response interventions.
