OGUN ADC URGES MEMBERS TO SETTLE DISPUTES THROUGH DIALOGUE
The African Democratic Congress in Ogun State has urged its members to use dialogue and internal dispute-resolution mechanisms instead of taking every disagreement to court.
The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Olumide Onabajo, said prolonged litigation over internal disagreements could consume the party’s time and resources as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
Onabajo said disagreements and competing interests were normal within political organisations but urged members to seek reconciliation before resorting to legal action.
He said the party remained open to members joining from other political organisations but cautioned that internal differences should not become prolonged disputes.
The ADC spokesman also referred to provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 concerning the jurisdiction of courts over some matters relating to the internal affairs of political parties.
He urged party leaders, aspirants and other stakeholders with grievances to make use of established internal mechanisms for resolving disputes.
Onabajo said the party needed to focus its resources on mobilisation, organisation, policy development and preparations for the 2027 elections.
The call comes amid internal disagreements and legal disputes within political parties as preparations for the next general elections continue.
