The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has constituted a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the structure covering the six geopolitical zones, the Federal Capital Territory and all 36 states. The council includes officials responsible for grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, as well as administration.

The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, was named Director-General of the campaign, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership. Other zonal coordinators appointed are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East. State coordinators were also appointed for the 36 states and the FCT.

In a message to the newly appointed members, Sani described their selection as a responsibility to take the message and programme of the movement’s principals to Nigerians across the country. She said the campaign would require discipline, sacrifice, leadership, strategic planning, grassroots mobilisation and effective communication, while urging members to work collectively. She also said the movement’s immediate task was to ensure that the message of its principals reached Nigerians from urban centres to local governments, wards and communities.

Other members of the council include Rev Mike Agbon as Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; Peace Daful, Procurement; Prof Charles Nwekeaku, South Eastern Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Information Technology. Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri heads Strategy and Planning, Richard Enemona CSP (retd.) heads Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.

The campaign council’s unveiling follows earlier moves by the group to maintain its independent structure while supporting the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso on the Nigeria Democratic Congress platform. The movement had also recently condemned the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State, calling for an impartial investigation and saying its security personnel exercised restraint to prevent the incident from escalating. The latest appointments mark another stage in the group’s preparations for its nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
