OBI-KWANKWASO MOVEMENT NAMES 59 OFFICIALS FOR NATIONWIDE 2027 MOBILISATION
The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, also known as the OK Movement, has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections. The council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors responsible for areas including mobilisation, women’s affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs and administration. The movement said the structure would coordinate its activities and mobilisation efforts across communities ahead of the election.
John Ughulu, the movement’s Director-General, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani was listed as part of the campaign leadership. The structure includes representatives from the six geopolitical zones, the Federal Capital Territory and all 36 states. The six zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
Other members were assigned responsibilities covering grassroots mobilisation, women’s affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration. Among those appointed are Mike Agbon as Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria, Sabo Gashua as Director of Grassroots Mobilisation, Glory Adayi as Director of Women Affairs, Kabir Yahaya as Director of Contact and Engagement and Abdumumini Tijjani as Director of Mobilisation. Other appointments include Kingdom Okere for Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri for Strategy and Planning, Richard Enemona for Security and Intelligence, and Aisha Abdulrahaman for Administration.
The council is expected to coordinate support for the joint presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, with Peter Obi as presidential candidate and Rabiu Kwankwaso as running mate. In her message to the newly appointed members, Sani described their appointments as a responsibility requiring discipline, commitment, strategic thinking and grassroots engagement. She said the members would be expected to take the message and programme of the movement to Nigerians across states, local government areas, wards and communities.
The unveiling comes amid ongoing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections and a separate clarification from the NDC over the movement's status. The NDC has said the OK Movement's council does not replace the party's formal presidential campaign council, which is expected to be constituted separately. The OK Movement, meanwhile, has maintained that it has its own independent organisational structure while supporting Obi and Kwankwaso and NDC candidates it chooses to back in different parts of the country.
