OBI DECLARES: MY PRESIDENCY WILL BE A WIN FOR THE NORTH
Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections and a key figure in the emerging opposition alliance under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed confidence that the northern region of Nigeria will embrace and celebrate his leadership if elected president in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Obi emphasized the immense potential of the North, describing it as Nigeria’s most resource-rich region, with 19 states boasting fertile land and a significant voting population. However, he lamented that the region’s potential has been stifled by widespread insecurity.
“We’ve made electoral choices based on incompetence, ethnicity, and religion,” Obi said. “Now it’s time to vote for competence.”
He urged the North to place its trust in him, pledging to address the security challenges and unlock the region’s agricultural wealth.
“If given the opportunity to lead, I assure you the North will celebrate my presidency. I understand the root of the issues and I have a plan to solve them,” Obi added.
