OBASOGIE VINDICATED: SUSPENDED GOALKEEPER RETURNS TO SINGIDA BLACK STARS
Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been exonerated of match-fixing claims by Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars SC.
Obasogie was previously suspended for three months following concerns over his performances in the club’s CAF Confederation Cup match against Flambeau du Centre and league fixtures against Pamba Jiji FC and Namungo FC.
An internal investigation by the club found no evidence linking the 26-year-old former Bendel United shot-stopper to match manipulation.
“The incidents that raised concerns have been determined to be technical errors within the game,” the club said.
Obasogie is now free to resume duties under coach Othmen Najjar.
He joined Singida Black Stars last year after leaving Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema.
