NYSC OFFERS FREE HEALTHCARE TO 757 PATIENTS IN JIGAWA
The National Youth Service Corps in Jigawa State has provided free medical services to 757 patients during a one-day outreach programme held at the Chamo Primary Health Care Centre in Dutse.
The initiative, organised under the scheme’s Community Development Service, focused on vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, nursing mothers, infants, and the elderly.
Speaking at the event, the NYSC State Coordinator, Bala Muhammad, described the outreach as a practical demonstration of the scheme’s commitment to impacting rural communities. He emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between the government, health institutions, and corps members to sustain such interventions.
Medical personnel, including NYSC doctors, treated various ailments ranging from malaria to hypertension, while also providing free drugs and health education on preventive care and hygiene.
The outreach received support from local stakeholders, including medical institutions and government officials, who contributed to the provision of medications and logistics.
Community leaders praised the initiative, noting that many residents rarely have access to such healthcare services without travelling long distances. They also called for similar programmes to be replicated across other rural communities in the state.
The programme highlights ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access and promote community well-being at the grassroots level.
