NWUCHE URGES TRADITIONAL RULERS TO AVOID PARTISAN POLITICS
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, has urged traditional rulers in Ekpeye Kingdom, Rivers State, to remain neutral in partisan political matters.
Nwuche made the call while speaking during an event in the kingdom, where he stressed the need for traditional institutions to maintain their neutrality and focus on their cultural and community responsibilities.
He said monarchs occupy important positions in their communities and should avoid actions that could create divisions among their subjects.
Nwuche urged traditional rulers to maintain their status as unifying figures while allowing politicians and political parties to pursue their activities within the democratic process.
The former deputy speaker’s comments come ahead of the 2027 general elections, when political activities are expected to increase across the country.
He also called for continued respect for traditional institutions and peaceful engagement among political actors and community leaders.
His remarks were directed at preserving the role of traditional rulers as community leaders rather than partisan political actors.
