Nigerian duo Chibuike Nwaiwu and Paul Onuachu were instrumental as Trabzonspor secured a 3-1 victory against Fatih Karagumruk at Papara Park on Friday night.

Onuachu opened the scoring for the hosts in the 20th minute, marking his 18th league goal of the season for Trabzonspor. However, Daniel Verde leveled for Fatih Karagumruk just six minutes later.

Trabzonspor reclaimed the lead through Nwaiwu two minutes after the break, before Onuachu provided the assist for his compatriot’s second goal in the 50th minute, sealing the win for the Black Sea Storm.

This season, Nwaiwu has tallied two goals and one assist in six league appearances for Trabzonspor.

The victory lifts third-placed Trabzonspor to 48 points from 24 matches, just four points behind Fenerbahce, who have a game in hand.
