NWABALI BOOST FOR SUPER EAGLES AS HE RETURNS TO TRAINING
Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has resumed training after picking up an injury in Tuesday’s league match against Richards Bay.
The shot-stopper was stretchered off in the 35th minute of the game, raising concerns about his availability for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
However, the 29-year-old featured in a light training session with his club on Friday evening.
Nwabali is expected to be in goal when Chippa United face Orlando Pirates in their Premier League clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
The Nigerian goalkeeper was also named in the final 23-man Super Eagles squad for the qualifiers against Rwanda’s Amavubi and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana. He is scheduled to join his national teammates in camp in Uyo after completing club duties.
