Suspected cultists open fire at an Ibeju-Lekki location, leaving one transport union member dead and multiple others with gunshot injuries as police launch manhunt

A member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), identified as Kamoru Omokoye, has been shot dead by suspected cultists at the Abijo Bus Stop in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.

The violent incident occurred during morning hours when two armed assailants arrived at the scene in an unregistered Lexus RX 350, approached a local gathering spot, and opened fire indiscriminately.

According to eyewitness accounts and security sources, Omokoye sustained critical head injuries from the gunfire and was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

At least three other individuals present at the location suffered varying degrees of gunshot wounds from the sudden assault before the attackers sped away from the scene.

Operatives from the Lagos State Police Command subsequently visited the location to restore calm, evacuate victims, and comb surrounding neighborhoods for clues regarding the perpetrators.

The latest bloodshed has renewed local anxieties over security and violent crime syndicates within the Lekki corridor, prompting authorities to reinforce surveillance and intelligence gathering across flashpoint transport hubs.
