NUJ CHARGES GOMBE APPOINTEES TO EMBRACE TRANSPARENCY
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, has called on newly appointed government officials in the state to prioritise transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Chairman, Comrade Iliya Ismaila, the NUJ urged the appointees to operate with openness, make information readily available to the public, and avoid any form of corruption.
“Transparency builds public trust and supports good governance. We charge all political appointees to embrace open-door policies and timely dissemination of accurate information,” the statement read.
The union pledged to partner with the government in promoting good governance but warned that it would not hesitate to expose any wrongdoing or abuse of office.
The NUJ also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his developmental strides and commitment to a transparent administration, while encouraging the new appointees to align with the governor’s vision of inclusive and accountable leadership.
The council further appealed to the appointees to maintain a cordial working relationship with the media for effective information flow to the people of Gombe State.
