NSIB, NCAA TO STRENGTHEN SUPPORT FOR AIR CRASH VICTIMS’ FAMILIES

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have pledged to enhance support mechanisms for families of air crash victims.

The agencies announced plans to improve compensation processes, psychological support services, and timely communication with bereaved families following aviation incidents.

NSIB Director General emphasised that the welfare of victims’ families remains a top priority, vowing to ensure thorough investigations and adherence to international standards on victim assistance.

The collaboration aims to address previous shortcomings in post-accident family support, including faster release of preliminary reports and streamlined claims processes.

Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, noting that it will help restore public confidence in the aviation sector. The agencies also committed to regular training and capacity building for personnel involved in crisis response and family liaison.

The move aligns with global best practices in aviation safety and victim support.
