The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has rescued an eight-year-old boy named Elijah who was found wandering along the Imesi-Ile/Otan-Ile Road in Osun State.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Adeleke Kehinde, the boy was spotted in a distressed and confused state, unable to recall important details about his family.

Elijah told officers that he had been taken away by an unidentified man in Auchi, Edo State, after his mother sent him to buy something. He explained that his father is a farmer and that his family lives in Auchi, but he could not remember his surname or provide contact details.

He further revealed that the unknown man eventually abandoned him at Imesi-Ile, leaving him stranded and unsure of how to return home.

The NSCDC has since launched investigations in the Imesi-Ile and Otan-Ile communities. Community leaders were invited to help identify the child, but no one recognized him.

For now, Elijah remains in the custody of the NSCDC Osun Command, where his safety and welfare are being prioritized.

The Corps is appealing to members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could help reunite Elijah with his family.

“Anyone who recognises Elijah or has credible information should contact the NSCDC Osun State Command immediately,” Adeleke urged.

The case has sparked concern, with many calling for greater vigilance in protecting children from abduction and abandonment.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
