NSCDC NABS TWO OVER ALLEGED CATTLE RUSTLING IN KANO

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers in Kano State as part of ongoing efforts to tackle livestock theft and other criminal activities affecting farming and rural communities.

The arrests reportedly followed intelligence-led operations by NSCDC personnel, who have continued to monitor activities linked to cattle theft and attacks on livestock owners. Cattle rustling remains a major security and economic concern in parts of northern Nigeria, where it can threaten the livelihoods of farmers and herders.

The development comes amid broader security operations targeting cattle rustling and related offences across the region. In a recent operation in Gombe State, for instance, the NSCDC also arrested suspects accused of cattle rustling after 13 cows allegedly stolen from Taraba State were intercepted during a joint security operation.

Security agencies have continued to strengthen cooperation and intelligence sharing in an effort to disrupt criminal networks involved in livestock theft. The NSCDC has also urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist security personnel in identifying suspects and preventing further criminal activities.

The two suspects are expected to remain in custody while investigations continue into the alleged offence. Authorities will determine the circumstances surrounding the cattle rustling allegations and establish whether the suspects are connected to other individuals or criminal groups involved in similar activities.
