The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa State has intercepted a trailer loaded with stolen iron pipes belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Amidu Baba, the interception occurred on September 30, 2025, along the Jalingo–Numan Road. Five suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal possession and transportation of 204 units of the pipes.

The pipes were carefully concealed under bags of chaff, which were strategically placed on top and around them to make the trailer appear as though it was carrying farm produce.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the stolen items were dug out from a bush around Mararaba Abbare in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State before being loaded onto the trailer. The suspects were reportedly en route to Yobe State when they were intercepted by NSCDC operatives.

Baba added that the discovery underscores the command’s continued vigilance in protecting national assets and critical infrastructure from vandals and economic saboteurs.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to trace the masterminds behind the theft and transportation of the NNPCL property.
