NSCDC INTERCEPTS RUSTLED COW, ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS IN KANO

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has intercepted a suspected rustled cow and arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged theft in Kano State.

The NSCDC said its operatives intercepted the animal during an operation aimed at tackling livestock theft and other criminal activities in the state.

The two suspects were subsequently taken into custody as investigations began into the circumstances surrounding the alleged rustling.

Officials said efforts were ongoing to establish the ownership of the cow and determine whether the suspects were connected to a wider network involved in livestock theft.

Cattle rustling remains a concern in several parts of northern Nigeria, where livestock represents an important source of income and livelihood for many families.

Security agencies have continued to intensify operations against individuals and groups suspected of stealing livestock and transporting stolen animals across communities.

The NSCDC said the arrest demonstrates its commitment to protecting lives, property and economic assets, particularly in rural communities where livestock theft can have significant financial consequences.

The corps urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent crime and support ongoing investigations.

It also advised livestock owners to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of suspected theft to relevant authorities.

The suspects are expected to face further investigation in accordance with the law.

The NSCDC said it would continue working with other security agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen surveillance and curb criminal activities across Kano State.
