NSCDC EXPLAINS 13-MONTH CLOSURE OF ABUJA QUARRY

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has defended its decision to keep a quarry site in Abuja closed for 13 months, saying the action was necessary to address security and regulatory concerns.

The NSCDC said the closure followed issues identified at the quarry that required intervention by relevant authorities before operations could safely resume.

The agency explained that the decision was not taken arbitrarily but was based on concerns surrounding activities at the site and the need to ensure compliance with established regulations.
