NSCDC BUSTS FOUR SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS, SEIZES MARIJUANA AND OTHER SUBSTANCES IN KANO

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, have arrested four suspected illicit drug dealers during a covert operation in Gaida, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state. The arrests were carried out by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Unit based at Dorayi Babba in Gwale Local Government Area after the corps received what it described as credible intelligence on suspected drug-related activities in the area.

The suspects were identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 35; Rabiu Baffa, 25; Aminu Lawan, 35; and Ibrahim Idris, 33. All four are residents of Gaida in Kumbotso Local Government Area. During the operation, security operatives recovered several substances allegedly linked to illicit drug dealing, including four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules, commonly referred to as “PG,” as well as dozens of Diazepam tablets popularly known as “Fara.”

Other items recovered included three tubes of Oshin Solution, also called “Sholisho,” alongside three large packs and 20 smaller parcels containing suspected marijuana. The NSCDC said the operation was intelligence-led and formed part of its continuing efforts to disrupt activities involving the illegal sale, distribution and abuse of controlled substances across Kano State.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC in Kano, Mohammed Agalama, warned members of the public, particularly young people, against involvement in the sale or consumption of illicit drugs. He described drug abuse as a serious threat to public safety, security and the wellbeing of society, stressing the importance of cooperation between security agencies and residents in identifying and tackling drug-related activities.

Following a preliminary investigation, the NSCDC said the four suspects and the recovered exhibits would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kano for further investigation and possible prosecution. Agalama also urged residents to provide credible information about suspected drug activities, assuring the public that such information would be handled confidentially.
