The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has handed over a suspected Indian hemp dealer and two accomplices to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

The suspects were apprehended in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

Addressing journalists at the command headquarters on Friday, the NSCDC State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Riruwai Gate by operatives of the Doguwa Division following a credible intelligence report.

“On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at about 02:30hrs, operatives of the NSCDC, Doguwa Division, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a motorbike and apprehended a notorious Indian hemp (Wiwi) dealer, Yusuf Alasan, 25, alongside two other adults, Muktar Musa and Musa Sani,” Bodinga disclosed.

He explained that the suspects were caught transporting three large sacks filled with marijuana from Doguwa town to Kafau, within the same local government area.

The commandant noted that preliminary investigations had been concluded by the corps, after which the suspects and exhibits were handed over to the NDLEA Kano State Command in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration.

“We are handing over the suspected drug dealer, as well as the other two suspects, along with the exhibits to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary legal action,” he said.

Bodinga reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to working closely with other security agencies to rid Kano State of criminal activities.

This development follows a similar operation on August 6, 2025, when NSCDC operatives in Kano arrested two suspects involved in drug dealing and burglary.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
