Command reiterates zero tolerance for critical national infrastructure sabotage, urging residents to report suspicious movements around public installations

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 24-year-old suspect, identified as Nweke Friday Wisdom, for allegedly vandalizing a telecommunications mast and stealing essential equipment.

The suspect was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation after security personnel received reports of unauthorized access and systematic removal of critical components from a service provider's installation in the state.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect targeted heavy-duty technical components and valuable materials installed at the facility, which are vital for maintaining continuous network connectivity across neighboring communities.

Confirming the arrest, the state command emphasized its unwavering mandate to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure against criminal targeting, economic sabotage, and unauthorized interference.

Command officials disclosed that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue to identify potential accomplices and end-buyers involved in the illegal trade of vandalized equipment, adding that the suspect will be formally charged in court upon completion of the inquiry.

The corps urged residents to maintain heightened vigilance and promptly report suspicious activities surrounding electrical transformers, pipeline networks, telecommunications masts, and other public utilities to law enforcement authorities.
