Nigeria Premier Football League clubs will receive 60 per cent of the league’s new $7.5m three-year title sponsorship agreement with EUROMATCH, with the allocation expected to improve players’ wages and welfare.

The deal, worth $2.5m per season, was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL season. NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, disclosed that the larger share would go directly to the clubs as part of efforts to ensure the league’s commercial growth benefits players.

Elegbeleye said the arrangement was designed to improve the financial position of clubs and ultimately raise players’ earnings. He stressed that the welfare of footballers must remain central to the league’s commercial strategy.

Former Sports Minister and Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, described the agreement as evidence that reforms aimed at treating sports as a business were beginning to attract major investment. He commended the NPFL, clubs and other stakeholders for sustaining reforms despite challenges in recent years.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau also welcomed the partnership, saying it would strengthen domestic football and create greater opportunities for clubs and players. EUROMATCH Group Chairman, Sadi Semih, meanwhile, said the company viewed the three-year agreement as a strategic investment aimed at delivering sustainable value and increasing the international visibility of the NPFL.
