Northern senators have called for an immediate military offensive against insurgents operating around the Kopre-Sambisa corridor in Adamawa State.

The call followed attacks on two military battalions in the area that resulted in the deaths of soldiers, a forest guard and civilians.

The senators said the recent attacks demonstrated the need for stronger and sustained security operations to prevent insurgents from consolidating their presence in the region.

They urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to restore security in affected communities and protect residents.

The lawmakers also called for improved coordination among security agencies and sustained military operations in areas considered vulnerable to insurgent activity.

They stressed the importance of preventing further attacks and creating conditions that would allow residents to carry out their daily activities without fear.

The senators’ demand comes amid renewed concerns about insecurity in parts of the North-East, where communities continue to face threats from insurgent groups.

They said a stronger security response was necessary to address the situation and prevent the spread of insecurity to additional communities.
