Political leaders and stakeholders in the North-Central have launched a regional movement to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The movement, known as the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027, was launched at a meeting in Abuja led by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule also attended the meeting and described the initiative as timely.

Akume said the movement would coordinate grassroots mobilisation across the six North-Central states and seek support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

Sule said the region was better positioned politically than it was before the 2023 election, while Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris described the initiative as a new regional mobilisation platform.

National Coordinator of the movement, Sonny Echono, said the group would work with political leaders and grassroots stakeholders across the region.

The initiative is part of wider political mobilisation activities by supporters of Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
