Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has donated relief materials, other items and cash gifts to residents of the Anambra Rehabilitation Home in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, following their progress through rehabilitation and skills training. Soludo visited the facility on Sunday and expressed satisfaction with the improvement recorded among the residents, particularly those who had been certified medically fit to return to their communities.

During the visit, the First Lady observed residents who had undergone training in different skills and were able to demonstrate what they had learnt with confidence and considerable skill. Some of those certified medically fit to leave the centre had chosen to continue learning and preparing for life outside the facility, with the training designed to help them rebuild their confidence and develop abilities that could support a more productive future.

Soludo said the experience reinforced her belief that rehabilitation should go beyond helping people recover from their difficulties. According to her, it should also give people the opportunity to rediscover their abilities, regain confidence and prepare to take up meaningful roles in society. She said seeing the residents graduate from their various training programmes showed what could be achieved when people are given the necessary support and opportunity.

The First Lady stressed that every person deserves a second chance and that the right support and encouragement can help people rebuild their lives. She also praised the caregivers at the rehabilitation home for the important role they played throughout the residents’ recovery and training. Soludo expressed particular pride in the graduates who chose to learn new skills, improve themselves and prepare for a meaningful life beyond the rehabilitation centre.

She wished the beneficiaries well as they continue their journey after rehabilitation, expressing hope that they would build on the skills and confidence acquired at the centre. Soludo also said the experience was a reminder that lives can be rebuilt and new beginnings are possible when individuals are supported with care, opportunity and people who believe in their potential.
