Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is receiving support from colleagues and well-wishers after his daughters publicly appealed for help over his health condition.

Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, separately shared emotional appeals on Instagram, saying their father is battling stage-four cancer and calling on Nigerians, medical professionals and well-wishers to assist the family.

Following the appeals, several Nollywood personalities have begun showing their support. Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo called on the public to help the family connect with medical professionals and facilities that could review Ogogo’s medical records and advise on possible treatment options.

The situation has also sparked conversations about the treatment of patients with advanced cancer. A doctor, Olusina Ajidahun, explained that when stage-four cancer has progressed and available treatments such as chemotherapy have been explored, doctors may recommend palliative care. This focuses on managing symptoms and improving a patient’s quality of life.

The doctor also cautioned against unverified herbal remedies, saying such treatments could cause additional complications for people battling advanced cancer.

For many Nigerians who have followed Ogogo’s long career in Yoruba Nollywood, the news has been met with concern and prayers.

As support continues to come in, Ogogo’s family remains hopeful that the right medical assistance can be found for the veteran actor.
