NOGASA Calls Off Service Halt, Resumes Fuel Supply to Telecom Operators

The Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) has announced the immediate resumption of fuel supply to IHS and other telecommunications companies, averting a looming nationwide network shutdown.

NOGASA’s National President, Bennett Okorie, revealed the decision during a press briefing on Saturday. The move comes just days after the association ordered its members to stop supplying fuel to the telecoms sector over multi-billion-naira debts owed by operators.

Why the Strike Was Suspended

According to Okorie, the decision to resume supplies followed the intervention of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Both bodies gave assurances that the outstanding debts would be settled.

“In the interest of energy security and Nigerians at large, we hereby resolve to resume our services immediately at the affected depots,” Okorie said.

While NOGASA agreed to lift the supply suspension, it set a seven-day deadline for the debt issue to be resolved. If payment is not made within that period, members will withdraw services again without notice.

The association also directed suppliers to work round the clock to make up for lost time.

“All suppliers are hereby directed to resume their business with IHS immediately, if possible 24 hours round-the-clock services to make up for lost time,” Okorie added.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
