NO NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS CAN BUY G-WAGON FROM ACTING ALONE – YEMI SOLADE

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has stirred conversation after declaring that no actor or actress in Nigeria can afford a luxury G-Wagon strictly from their acting earnings.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Solade explained that the Nigerian film industry does not pay enough for such expensive purchases to be made solely from movie roles.

According to him, while some entertainers flaunt luxury cars on social media, those vehicles are often funded through other income streams or business ventures.

“No actress can come out and say she bought her G-Wagon strictly from the money she made through acting. The earnings from Nollywood are not enough to cover such a luxury purchase,” Solade said.

He added that acting alone cannot provide that kind of money, stressing that only those with investments or alternative sources of income outside the movie industry could realistically afford such cars.

His remarks have reignited debate about Nollywood’s financial structure, with many agreeing that while the industry has grown in global recognition, its actors are still underpaid compared to their counterparts in Hollywood and other major film industries.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
