A major traffic disruption was recorded on Wednesday after a fully loaded 40-foot container truck overturned on the Ojuelegba Bridge, inward National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Fortunately, no life was lost, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the development, explaining that the truck, a Mack containerised vehicle, fell while descending the bridge and completely blocked the roadway, bringing traffic to a standstill.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr Taofiq Adebayo, said the fallen container obstructed access for other vehicles, forcing authorities to immediately divert traffic to ease congestion.

According to him, vehicles coming from Fadeyi and Onipan were redirected through the Ojuelegba service lane, passing through the Barracks axis to connect Funso Williams Avenue. He assured motorists that traffic officials were fully on the ground to manage the situation and prevent further complications.

Adebayo added that LASTMA personnel, supported by relevant equipment, were actively coordinating emergency and recovery operations to safely evacuate the overturned truck from the bridge. As a result of the incident, the Ojuelegba Bridge inward National Stadium was temporarily closed to vehicular movement pending the completion of the evacuation.
