NNPP SUFFERS MAJOR DEFECTION AS 1,000 MEMBERS CROSS OVER TO APC IN KANO
More than 1,000 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Sunday by Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin.
According to the statement, the defectors were officially welcomed into the APC at a gathering held at the Fine Time Events Centre in Kano.
The group attributed their decision to the various developmental initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Jibrin.
Leader of the defectors, Aminu Minjibir, stated that they had played key roles in advancing the Kwankwasiyya Movement but had become dissatisfied with the NNPP’s inability to meet the expectations of Kano residents.
“We worked tirelessly for the progress of the movement, but the NNPP has failed to bring about meaningful change for the people,” Minjibir said.
While receiving the new members, Senator Jibrin commended their decision, describing it as a step in the right direction.
He reaffirmed that the APC remains the largest political party in Africa and is committed to enhancing the well-being of Nigerians.
Jibrin also encouraged others to join the APC in order to support the growth and development of both Kano State and the nation at large.
