NKECHI BLESSING, OTHERS MOURN DEATH OF CJAY NWOKAFOR

The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the death of Nollywood actor Chijioke “Cjay” Nwokafor.

Actress Nkechi Blessing announced his death on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing videos and memories of herself with the late actor.

She did not disclose the cause of his death but cancelled the release of her movie, Egusi Ogbono, in his honour. Cjay featured in the film

The movie was initially scheduled to be released at 5pm on Wednesday, but Blessing withdrew it after a hospital confirmed the actor’s death.

Blessing said she spoke with Cjay at about 8am on Wednesday, only to receive news of his death a few hours later.

She expressed shock over the development, saying she and the actor had plans before his sudden death.

Actor Charles Born also reacted to the news, saying he had planned to visit Cjay at the hospital.

Another actor, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, expressed disbelief over the death, noting that he had exchanged messages with Cjay just a few days earlier.

As of press time, Cjay’s family and colleagues had not disclosed further details about his death or announced funeral arrangements.

Cjay began his acting career in 2021 and featured in several Nollywood productions, including Larry Cold, Mum Overnight and A Day to My Wedding.

He was an indigene of Anambra State.
