NINE ZAMFARA LAWMAKERS LEAVE APC FOR ADC
Nine members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress and joined the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmakers said their decision was influenced by disagreements over insecurity, internal party issues and concerns about governance in the state.
The defecting lawmakers include Aliyu Ango Kagara, Muktar Nasir, Faruk Dosara Musa, Basiru Bello, Bashir A. Masama, Ibrahim T. Tukur, Nasiru Abdullahi, Yusuf Muhammad Anka and Bashar Aliyu.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Kagara said their concerns about insecurity had previously led to disagreements with Governor Dauda Lawal.
Some of the lawmakers also alleged that internal divisions within the APC and what they described as injustice contributed to their decision to leave the party.
Five of the lawmakers had announced their resignations in separate letters dated October 4, while the others subsequently joined the ADC.
The lawmakers’ move adds to political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Zamfara State Government and the State House of Assembly could not be reached for comments on the development at the time of the report.
