NIMET PREDICTS THUNDERSTORMS, RAIN ACROSS NIGERIA FOR THREE DAYS
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a fresh weather alert, predicting thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across various parts of the country from Monday to Wednesday.
In its daily weather outlook released on Sunday, NiMet said residents across the north, central, and southern regions should prepare for varying weather conditions, ranging from sunny skies to rain and thunderstorms.
What to Expect Across the Regions:
Northern Nigeria:
Morning conditions will see sunny skies with patches of clouds in many areas. However, by afternoon and evening, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are expected in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Kebbi, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, and Yobe.
Central Nigeria:
Cloudy skies are expected in the morning, especially over parts of Niger State. As the day progresses, thunderstorms and light-to-moderate rainfall are likely to affect Plateau, Nasarawa, Abuja (FCT), Kogi, Benue, and Niger.
Southern Nigeria:
The day will start with cloudy weather and chances of rain in states like Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta. By afternoon and evening, light rain is expected in several areas including Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Delta, and more.
NiMet also urged the public to be cautious and stay safe, warning of the possibility of flash floods, strong winds, and local disruptions that may result from the weather conditions.
