The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of haze and sunshine from Wednesday to Friday across the country.

In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet said the northern region is expected to experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the forecast period.

The southern region, according to the agency, will see mostly sunny skies with intermittent cloud cover. Isolated thunderstorms with light rain are expected later in the day in parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

For Thursday, NiMet forecast sunny and hazy conditions in the northern and central regions, while the south will experience sunny skies with patches of clouds. Morning thunderstorms with light rains are expected in Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. Later in the day, thunderstorms may affect Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.

On Friday, the northern region is expected to experience sunny and hazy skies in the morning, with dust haze in the afternoon and evening. The central region will remain sunny and hazy throughout the day. The southern region is likely to see cloudy skies with sunny intervals in the morning, alongside isolated thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states.

NiMet also noted that dust particles will be suspended over the North Central region, advising the public, especially those with asthma and other respiratory conditions, to take precautions.

The agency further urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet to ensure effective planning of flight operations.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
