In its outlook released Friday in Abuja, NiMet projected early morning thunderstorms on Saturday in parts of the northern states including Taraba, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Adamawa.

Later in the day, more thunderstorms with accompanying rain are expected in Kebbi, Taraba, Zamfara, Borno, Kaduna, Sokoto, Gombe, and Bauchi.

For the North-Central region, early morning thunderstorms are likely in Benue, Plateau, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Nasarawa. By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with rain are anticipated across the FCT, Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, Kogi, and Plateau.

In the South, cloudy skies will dominate the morning, with light rains expected in parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa. Isolated thunderstorms and showers are forecast for later in the day in Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers.

On Sunday, morning thunderstorms are expected in Kaduna, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba. Thunderstorms with rain are also predicted later in the day in Taraba, Adamawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Zamfara, Gombe, and Bauchi.

The North-Central region will likely see sunny intervals with cloudy patches and early morning thunderstorms affecting Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, and the FCT. Afternoon or evening thunderstorms are expected in the same areas.

In the South, morning storms are forecast for Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River, followed by isolated thunderstorms and rain across most southern states later in the day.

By Monday, NiMet expects morning thunderstorms in Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba in the North. Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are forecast for Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Zamfara, Gombe, Kaduna, and Bauchi.

The North-Central will experience sunny periods with clouds and rain in the afternoon over the FCT, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, Kwara, and Plateau.

In the South, cloudy morning skies with light rain are expected in Ogun, Edo, Ondo, Delta, and Bayelsa, with widespread thunderstorms and rain likely later in the day across the region.

NiMet advised the public to take precautions, warning that strong winds may precede rainfall in many areas. People are urged to secure loose items to prevent damage, avoid driving in heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances during storms, and steer clear of tall trees.

Airline operators were also advised to obtain detailed weather reports from NiMet to aid in flight planning.
