NIM MOBILISES FELLOWS FOR POLICY RESEARCH, NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Nigerian Institute of Management has begun mobilising its fellows to conduct sector-specific research and develop policy recommendations aimed at supporting Nigeria’s national development.

The President and Chairman of the Council of NIM, Commodore Abimbola Ayuba, announced the initiative at the institute’s 2026 Awards, Fellows and Spouses’ Day Luncheon in Lagos.

Under the initiative, NIM fellows will be organised into sectoral faculties responsible for identifying challenges within their areas of expertise, commissioning studies, and producing policy papers for government consideration.

Ayuba urged fellows selected or volunteering to lead the faculties to identify priority areas for research and assemble teams capable of conducting studies and developing practical recommendations.

He said the initiative would provide a structured way for experienced management professionals to contribute their knowledge to national policy discussions.

Ayuba also described fellowship as more than a professional recognition, saying it comes with a responsibility to contribute time, expertise, and resources to the institute and society.

The institute also conferred fellowships and other awards on professionals and organisations during the event, while members aged 70 and above who remained active received life membership awards.

The initiative comes as Nigeria continues to face complex challenges across its economy, institutions, and public sector.

NIM is expected to use the findings from its research faculties to strengthen its advocacy programme and provide evidence-based recommendations on issues affecting different sectors of the economy.
