NIGERIA’S CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION FALLS 4.7% IN AUGUST — NUPRC
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has attributed the decline in crude oil production in August to an unscheduled maintenance activity at an oil facility.
According to the agency’s Crude Oil and Condensate Production Report for August 2025, output dropped to 1.63 million barrels per day (mbpd), down from 1.71 mbpd recorded in July.
This represents a 4.7 per cent decline in total crude and condensate production within the period. Crude oil alone fell by 4.8 per cent, sliding from 1.5 mbpd in July to 1.43 mbpd in August.
“The month-on-month drop was driven by a single-day unscheduled maintenance at an oil facility. In the month of August, the lowest and peak combined crude and condensate production were 1.59 mbpd and 1.85 mbpd, respectively,” NUPRC explained.
Despite the monthly decline, production rose year-on-year by 5.5 per cent, compared to 1.58 mbpd recorded in August 2024.
The report further revealed that condensate output in August stood at 197,229 barrels per day, showing a reduction from the previous month.
Nigeria also met 96 per cent of its OPEC production quota of 1.5 mbpd during the review period.
Among the production hubs, Forcados Terminal led with 8.99 million barrels in August, comprising 8.08 million barrels of crude oil and 915,200 barrels of condensates.
