NIGERIA’S CHIAMAKA NNADOZIE NOMINATED FOR 2025 BALLON D’OR GOALKEEPER AWARD
Ballon d’Or 2025: Super Falcons Star Chiamaka Nnadozie Nominated for Best Goalkeeper Award
Nigeria’s top female goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has earned a well-deserved nomination for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy — the Ballon d’Or award given to the best female goalkeeper in the world.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper played a huge role in the Super Falcons’ triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Nigeria secured a record-breaking 10th title. Her stellar performances between the sticks included four clean sheets, earning her the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.
Following her recent move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Women’s Super League, Nnadozie continues to rise on the global football stage — and her Ballon d’Or nomination is further proof.
She’s up against some of the world’s finest for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, including:
Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany)
Cata Coll (Spain)
Hannah Hampton (England)
Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands, Arsenal)
The winner will be revealed at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on September 22 in Paris.
This marks a major milestone for both Nnadozie and Nigerian women’s football, as she continues to inspire a new generation of African athletes chasing greatness on the global stage.
