NIGERIANS SPEND ₦1.7 TRILLION ON MTN DATA IN FIRST HALF OF 2026
Nigerians spent ₦1.7 trillion on MTN data services in the first half of 2026, highlighting the country’s growing demand for internet connectivity and digital services.
The surge in data spending reflects increased reliance on mobile internet for business, entertainment, education, communication, and other daily activities.
Industry analysts said the growth in data consumption has been driven by wider smartphone adoption, expansion of digital platforms, and increased use of online services across different sectors of the economy.
MTN Nigeria’s performance also underscores the expanding role of telecommunications companies in supporting Nigeria’s digital economy through improved network coverage and data services.
Experts noted that while rising data usage presents growth opportunities for telecom operators, affordability and network quality remain key concerns for many consumers.
They added that continued investment in infrastructure, including broadband expansion and improved connectivity, will be essential to meeting Nigeria’s growing digital needs.
MTN Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to reliable telecommunications services and supporting the country’s digital transformation.
