Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has declared that Nigerians are now “superlatively safer” than they were before Tinubu assumed office.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Bwala argued that the current administration has made significant progress in curbing insecurity nationwide.

According to him, before 2023, Nigeria witnessed frequent prison breaks, daylight kidnappings, and daily killings, which have now drastically reduced under Tinubu’s leadership.

“Nigerians are superlatively safer today than they were before 2023. Back then, there were prison breaks everywhere—even in Abuja. Kidnappers attacked in broad daylight, and killings were reported daily across the country,”
Bwala said.

He added that since President Tinubu took office, the nation has not recorded any major prison break incidents, and citizens can now “go about their businesses peacefully.”

Bwala also credited former U.S. President Donald Trump for lifting restrictions on the sale of military equipment to Nigeria, noting that the move strengthened the country’s counter-terrorism capacity.

“When Donald Trump came in 2016, he started selling to us some of the ammunition that the previous U.S. administration didn’t approve. He understood Nigeria’s strategic role in the fight against insecurity,”
Bwala noted.

While acknowledging that challenges still exist, the presidential aide maintained that the government remains committed to achieving lasting peace and safety for all Nigerians.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
